Om een record in het afstandslopen te verbeteren is een gelijkmatig tempo van cruciaal belang. Tot voor kort werd hiervoor gebruik gemaakt van één of meerdere menselijke hazen. Deze personen dienen zo lang mogelijk het tempo van de recordjager te bepalen zodat de atleet zijn energie kan doseren. Het blijft echter altijd moeilijk om het exacte tempo te bepalen. Running Light (Luminus looplicht) vervangt menselijke haas Op de Memorial Van Damme zal het Running Light (Luminus looplicht), als elektronische tempomaker, in wereldprimeur een nieuwe dimensie aan het afstandlopen geven. Tachtig paaltjes voorzien van een flitslamp en een wit licht bepalen het strakke tempo dat de loper naar nieuwe wereldrecords moet loodsen. Met de steun van Luminus ontwikkelde TOASTit-electronics (www.toastit.be) deze elektronische haas en dokterde een systeem uit dat via een tijdstabel in een centrale computer tot op één duizendste van een seconde nauwkeurig werkt. De atleet moet tijdens zijn recordjacht enkel het Running Light (Luminus looplicht) volgen zonder nutteloze energie te verspillen. Luminus staat voor innovatieve toepassingen van energie. Via energiedosering wil Luminus nu ook de atleet adviseren. De goedkoopste energie, is immers de energie die je niet verbruikt. De elektronische haas wordt ook een handig hulpmiddel bij trainingen. Het is voor iedere atleet perfect mogelijk een schema op te stellen met tijden en snelheden die hij wil halen tijdens de training. Het schema wordt opgeladen in een mobiel zendertje dat op de piste informatie stuurt naar de paaltjes. Het Running Light (Luminus looplicht) is voor het eerst te zien tijdens de Memorial Van Damme (www.memorialvandamme.be), maar zal in de toekomst ongetwijfeld ook doorbreken in andere sporttakken zoals schaatsen, zwemmen of baanwielrennen.

Lorsqu'il tente de battre un record, il suffit à l'athlète de suivre le balisage lumineux de Luminus, sans gaspiller son énergie. Luminus est passé maître dans les applications créatives de l'énergie. En dosant l'énergie de l'athlète, Luminus entend l'aider à battre des records. Car, après tout, l'énergie la moins coûteuse est celle que l'on n'utilise pas. s Le lièvre électronique est une aide pratique au cours des entraînements. Il devient parfaitement possible pour chaque athlète de se définir un schéma retraçant les temps et les vitesses qu'il veut atteindre au cours des entraînements. Ce schéma est chargé dans un petit émetteur mobile qui, de la piste, envoie des informations aux poteaux. Le balisage (lumineux de Luminus) Running Light va être mis en service pour la première fois lors du Mémorial Van Damme (www.memorialvandamme.be). Mais il est indubitable qu'il sera, à l'avenir, utilisé dans d'autres disciplines sportives comme le patinage, la natation ou le cyclisme sur piste.
